*Statement on Coverage of Pre-Existing Conditions

Pre-existing conditions - In a few states, referred to as health care reform states, individuals can be covered regardless if they have pre-existing health conditions. But, in most states individuals with pre-existing health conditions can be either turned down for coverage or be subject to long waiting periods.

While NASRO is working hard to change these unfair laws, we have to accept that in many states we are not able to establish association plans to assist members in need. Yet, after over 20 years of working to provide health plans we are not ready to give up and we continue to encourage people to join health plans individually and in small employer groups through us in the hope that the laws will someday be changed and our large numbers will matter.
